For the past 12 years I have been working hard and achieving difficult
goals. While my education and attention to local government gives me the
understanding that I need to be a county commissioner, it is my business
experience that makes me the best candidate for this position. I have
spent 6 years learning how to work and succeed in our community. I have learned
that it is hard work and devotion that creates success and not just a basic understanding
of the issues. I believe that as a business person I have developed a
reputation as an honest, trustworthy, responsible and accountable person
who works hard and cares about others. These are
the values that I will bring to this position and how I achieve success.
I am a graduate of New Mexico State
University and have called Las
Cruces home for 11 years.
I met my wife, Robin, in 1997 and was married in 2002. In 2007 Robin gave
birth to our first child -- daughter Kaitlin. Kaitlin's birth has had a huge
impact on my life and was a major influence in my decision to run for County
Commissioner and make this
community a better place. Simply put, with my family’s roots growing deeper in
this community, I am more committed then ever to making sure that our government
is actively pursuing a vision for a more beautiful and prosperous community.
At NMSU I studied democratic philosophy, American government, ethics and
journalism. This education has given me an appreciation for diplomacy and the
respect and empathy for other people's perspectives. I believe that these are
keys to achieving goals in government.
I earned a bachelors of arts with a double major in Government and
Journalism. I was elected to the student senate, worked at the student
newspaper, organized and participated in multiple events, and taught an
introductory class on American government. While attending graduate school I
lobbied the New Mexico Legislature for graduate student tuition waivers and was
the president of the Graduate Alliance of Government Students.
Since graduating, I helped start a business in Las
Cruces and have helped a locally owned business become
an established and successful marketing firm. In both of these ventures, I have
succeeded in bringing people together to achieve difficult goals.
My parents, Chris and Kathy Krahling, taught me that active citizenship is
one of the most important values someone can have. I was raised to respect
others, be honest and take responsibility for myself. Those who know me will
attest to my integrity and the commitment that I have to my family and helping
others. I am also a proud brother and uncle.
I have actively participated in several community organizations, including
the Las Cruces Home Builders Association, the Las Cruces Association of Realtors
and the Honor Flight of Southern New Mexico. I have helped raise money for the
Mesilla Valley Habitat for Humanity and Families and Youth Inc. I have earned a
reputation as a hard worker and someone who can get things done.
